Assistant Company Secretary

Your new role

As the Assistant Company Secretary, you will support the Company Secretary (Director - Corporate Services) and provide solid support with your strong focus on legal, governance, compliance, and organisational operations. This role will assist the Company Secretary in managing board and management processes, coordinating compliance tasks, and facilitating communication between the board and senior management.

In this exciting new role, some of your key responsibilities will be:

  • Board and Committee Governance: Coordinate meeting calendars, prepare agendas and papers, record accurate minutes, follow up on board and committee action items to ensure completion and ensure safe governance systems and practices are in place.
  • Compliance and Record Management: Maintain governance and compliance registers, oversee all ACNC filings, oversee key governance documentation is in place and documentation filed and archived in accordance with company policy and easily accessible for the Company Secretary and board members and support legal management in coordinating and responding to National Redress Scheme applications.
  • Administrative Support to Company Secretary: Provide high-level administrative support to the Company Secretary, including diary management and act as the main conduit between board members, external advisors and the senior management team.
  • Board Director Coordination: Support board director onboarding, maintain the register of interests and board skills matrix, and assist with board professional development activities, board feedback and performance reviews, and board succession planning.

About you

You are someone with exceptional attention to detail, who is a proactive communicator and able to build strong relationships across the organisation and beyond.

You are proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and bring strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines effectively.

You have:

  • A relevant qualification in business, law, governance or a related field is desirable.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in legal and corporate governance, preferably within a compliance-related environment.
