About the role:

We are seeking an experienced and passionate practitioner to join our Caring Dads team. Caring Dads is an internationally recognised, evidence-based intervention program for fathers who have used family violence or are at risk of harming their children and families. The program promotes child-centred parenting and safer family relationships.

About the Role

As a Caring Dads Group Facilitator within the Caring Dads Program, you will:

  • Facilitate the 18-week Caring Dads group program
  • Deliver group programs across the North East Melbourne Metro and Hume Merri-bek regions.
  • Receive comprehensive Caring Dads facilitation training and ongoing practice support to deliver the evidence-based program model.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of fathers referred to the program.
  • Provide coordinated case management and engagement support to participants.
  • Undertake risk assessment, safety planning, and ongoing monitoring.
  • Collaborate with victim survivor services, child and family services, and other key stakeholders.
  • Prepare assessments, reports, and program outcome documentation.
  • Participate in clinical review, reflective practice, and nationwide communities of practice.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and evaluation of the Caring Dads model.

About you

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services, or a related field.
  • Experience working within family violence, trauma-informed practice, child and family services, mental health, AOD, justice, or a related therapeutic setting.
  • Strong skills in Family Violence risk assessment, client engagement, and case coordination or/and management.
  • Experience facilitating groups or a willingness to develop advanced group facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of family violence theories and frameworks, child development, attachment, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to complete high-quality documentation and reports.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • A commitment to child-centred and family safety-focused practice.
  • Family violence training and experience working with men who use violence will be highly regarded. Experience with the Caring Dads program is desirable but not essential, with training and ongoing support provided.
